RQM Certification Company, where I hold the role of “Trainer and Development Manager,” has recently become involved in a national project in Romania aimed at developing digital skills. This endeavor will facilitate the training and evaluation of professional competencies (gained as a result of said training) among employees in the private sector across nine emerging fields: Internet of Things, Big Data, Cloud Technologies, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Robotic Process Automation, Blockchain, Cyber-Physical Systems, and Additive Manufacturing.
I thought it would be useful to explore, the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on adult professional training for my future students and beyond. RQM Certification will utilize this tool as part of the digitalization project, and I have prepared several concrete examples.
In a world of continuous change, where technology evolves at a dizzying speed, adult professional training is no longer an option but a necessity. In this context, artificial intelligence (AI) makes its presence felt, altering the way adults develop and enhance their professional skills.
Artificial intelligence is a powerful tool that can learn, reason, and take action, offering us incredible opportunities for learning and professional growth. In adult professional training, AI can help identify the essential skills needed in different industries and develop training courses that meet these requirements.
Artificial intelligence can be employed to analyze trends in the IT industry, such as the increasing demand for cybersecurity specialists or mobile application developers. By studying labor market data, AI can pinpoint these trends and assist in designing training courses that cater to these demands.
For instance, if AI identifies an increased demand for cybersecurity specialists, a training course could be designed to cover topics such as cryptography, network security, and hacking ethics. This course would be suitable for adults who wish to enhance their skills or transition into a career in cybersecurity. Throughout the course, AI can monitor participants’ progress, identify strengths and weaknesses, and customize the content to meet individual needs.
If a participant struggles with the concept of cryptography, AI might recommend additional resources or practical exercises to aid in understanding this subject.
One of the key benefits of incorporating AI into professional training is its capacity to personalize learning. Through analysis of an individual’s learning data, AI can identify their strengths, weaknesses, and preferred learning style. This allows for the development of a tailored learning plan that caters to the unique needs and goals of each adult learner.
Let’s take the example of a professional who wants to change careers and enter the field of digital marketing. In this scenario, AI can be utilized to generate a customized learning plan specifically designed for this individual. By analyzing learning data, such as test results, feedback received, interactions with course materials, and time spent on different topics, AI can identify strengths, weaknesses, and learning styles. For example, if AI determines that an individual learns better through practice and struggles with theoretical concepts, the learning plan can be adjusted to include more practical exercises and concrete examples. Additionally, if AI identifies difficulty in understanding data analysis, it can recommend additional resources or tutorials to improve this skill. Throughout the course, AI can monitor an individual’s progress and adjust the learning plan based on their evolving needs. For instance, if someone rapidly improves their data analysis skills, AI can introduce more advanced topics or suggest practical projects to apply these new skills.
In this manner, artificial intelligence can help develop a personalized learning plan that caters to each adult’s specific needs and goals. This ensures they acquire the essential skills required to excel in their chosen field.
Furthermore, AI can assist in identifying emerging trends regarding skill requirements in various industries. By analyzing data from the job market, AI can pinpoint skills that are on the rise and in demand, and help in creating training courses that align with these trends. This can aid adults in staying relevant and competitive in the job market.
This time, let’s take the information technology industry as an example, where skill requirements rapidly shift and where artificial intelligence plays a pivotal role in identifying these trends.
Suppose AI analyzes job market data and identifies a growing demand for machine learning specialists. This is a skill that was not as sought-after a few years ago but has become essential as more companies start implementing machine learning technologies.
In this context, AI can assist in creating training courses that align with this emerging trend. These courses could cover topics such as machine learning algorithms, natural language processing, and deep learning, thereby preparing adults for roles in this expanding field.
By participating in these training courses, adults can acquire the necessary skills to stay relevant and competitive in the job market. At the same time, companies can benefit from a better-prepared workforce, capable of adapting to new technologies and trends.
AI can also facilitate access to professional training and assist in creating interactive and engaging learning content. By utilizing AI technologies such as virtual reality and augmented reality, professional training can become a far more immersive and efficient experience, and training courses can be delivered online, allowing adults to learn at their own pace and in their own time. This is particularly useful for working adults or those with other responsibilities that may limit their availability for learning.
To illustrate what I’ve just mentioned, I’ll give the example of a professional training course in the field of product design.
Traditionally, this type of training might require a physical presence in a workshop or studio, where participants can interact with different materials and learn through practice. However, this can be difficult for full-time working adults or those with other responsibilities.
This is where artificial intelligence comes in. By utilizing virtual and augmented reality technologies, the training course can be transformed into an immersive experience that can be accessed online. Participants can use a virtual reality headset to enter a virtual workshop, where they can interact with 3D models of various products and experiment with different design techniques.
For instance, a module of the course might involve designing a new chair. Instead of working with physical materials, participants can use virtual tools to create a 3D model of the chair, which they can manipulate and improve in real time. They can see what the chair looks like from different angles, test various colors and materials, and receive instantaneous feedback from the AI on aspects such as ergonomics and aesthetics.
Additionally, because the course is delivered online, adults can learn at their own pace and on their own time. They can access the virtual workshop whenever they wish, revisit course modules as necessary, and work on their projects at their most convenient times. This makes professional training more accessible and flexible, allowing adults to advance professionally without disrupting their other responsibilities.
I believe it is important to remember that AI is merely a tool. While it can provide personalized learning opportunities and assist in identifying emerging trends in skill requirements, the success of adult professional training ultimately relies on their engagement and motivation to learn and grow.In conclusion, AI has a significant impact on adult professional training, offering personalized learning opportunities and helping to identify necessary skills across various industries. However, it is important to remember that success in learning and professional development ultimately depends on us, adult learners. With AI as a properly used tool, we have the opportunity to enhance our skills and advance our careers in ways that have not been possible until now.
